JOHANNESBURG, March 26 – Chinese renewable energy companies attracted major attention at the Solar and Storage Live Africa 2026 exhibition in Johannesburg, highlighting China’s growing role in Africa’s expanding clean energy sector.
The exhibition, regarded as Africa’s largest renewable energy event, brought together leading companies and technologies focused on sustainable power and energy storage solutions. Chinese firms occupied several exhibition halls, showcasing advanced solar panels, battery storage systems, and smart energy solutions designed for emerging markets.
Major companies participating included Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited, LONGi Green Energy, TBEA Co., Ltd., and Huawei. Their exhibits featured high-efficiency photovoltaic modules, integrated storage systems, and digital energy platforms tailored to developing regions.
Industry representatives noted that the strong presence of Chinese companies reflects both their manufacturing capacity and strategic interest in Africa’s energy market. Officials and energy experts also welcomed the participation of Chinese firms, noting that their investments and technologies are helping accelerate Africa’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy.
African countries are increasingly investing in renewable energy to diversify their energy mix and reduce reliance on coal amid ongoing power shortages. Solar power, particularly when combined with battery storage systems, is emerging as a key component of the continent’s future energy strategy.
