COPENHAGEN, Aug. 17 (Anadolu): A Danish political party on Monday called for a ban on Meta’s AI-powered glasses, citing privacy and consent concerns.
Eva Flyvholm, legal affairs spokesperson for the Red-Green Alliance, told public broadcaster DR that the glasses should be prohibited because they can discreetly record people without their knowledge or consent.
“It is extremely uncomfortable for people, and it is contrary to the fact that we have a fundamental right to privacy,” Flyvholm said.
She called for existing legislation to be updated to address technological developments and ensure greater protection for individuals in public spaces.
Flyvholm said people should not have to worry about being recorded in places such as changing rooms and swimming pools and having such content shared online without their consent.
The party has also raised the issue with Justice Minister Nicolai Wammen, who said the government would meet with the Danish Consumer Council to discuss ways to protect people from emerging technological challenges.
Wammen described recording conversations and publishing videos without people’s knowledge as deeply reprehensible and acknowledged that such practices can feel intrusive to those affected.
