Embassy of Japan in Qatar
The Embassy of Japan in Qatar is pleased to announce that entries for the Qatar-Japan Illustration Contest 2026 will continue to be accepted until the new deadline on August 31, 2026.
Building on last year’s strong response, the deadline—originally set for August 27—has been extended to encourage broader participation.
Following the overwhelming success of its inaugural edition, this year’s contest officially launched on July 19, 2026, inviting artists to create original works under the theme “Crossroads of Legends: My Original Japan-Qatar Hero/Heroine”.
Organized in collaboration with leading local cultural partners Geekdom and Nakama, the contest celebrates the vibrant fusion of Japanese art and culture within the Qatari community.
The competition, designed to deepen cross-cultural exchange, provides a platform for Qatari citizens and residents to showcase their creativity and passion for Japanese art across three distinct categories, including a dedicated category for children.
Artists of all skill levels are encouraged to apply before August 31.
The winners will be selected by a distinguished panel of guest judges, and will receive amazing prizes sponsored by Teyseer Motors – Suzuki, Fnac Qatar, Daiso Japan, and Iwatani Corporation.
