WASHINGTON: US federal agents seized electronic devices from former US Congressman Eric Swalwell as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct, US media reported Thursday.
According to Fox News, FBI agents intercepted Swalwell at San Francisco International Airport on Saturday to collect his electronic devices. Agents then searched his Washington residence on Sunday while no one was home.
Multiple devices were reportedly confiscated, but sources said Swalwell was neither detained nor arrested during the operations.
The US Department of Justice did not immediately respond to Anadolu’s request for comment.
Swalwell resigned from Congress in April following reports of alleged sexual misconduct, which prompted criminal investigations by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Swalwell and his legal team have not issued a public statement regarding the seizures.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations against Swalwell remain allegations.
