PARIS, March 26 (Xinhua) – French President Emmanuel Macron has announced an additional €2 billion ($2.2 billion) in aid for Ukraine, reinforcing France’s commitment to supporting the war-torn nation.
Speaking alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a joint press conference, Macron emphasized the importance of sustained military and financial assistance to ensure Ukraine’s resilience. Zelensky’s visit to Paris precedes the “coalition of the willing” summit on Thursday, where European leaders will discuss short-term military support and long-term security guarantees to strengthen Ukraine’s defense.
The newly pledged aid is expected to cover military equipment, reconstruction efforts, and humanitarian support. Macron reiterated that France stands firmly with Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty and stability. (1 euro = 1.08 U.S. dollars)
