TBILISI, April 15: Georgia recorded its highest-ever first-quarter tourism figures in 2026, welcoming nearly one million international tourist visits between January and March, according to reports released Wednesday.
A total of 997,529 tourist visits were registered during the period, marking a 4 percent increase compared with the same period last year and setting a new record for the country’s typically off-peak first quarter.
Despite the tourism rise, overall international arrivals, including transit passengers and non-tourist visits, declined 1.1 percent to 1.3 million.
Türkiye remained Georgia’s largest source market for visitors, followed by major contributors including the United States, Britain, and Germany.
Tourist arrivals from the European Union and Britain surged 30.2 percent to 96,226, reflecting strong growth across several European markets.
Long-haul tourism also expanded significantly, with South Korea and China leading gains among Asian markets, while arrivals from the United States increased by 19.3 percent.
Officials view the latest figures as a sign of continued strength in Georgia’s tourism sector and growing international appeal.
