MIRPUR (AJK), April 14: A high-level meeting chaired by Azad Jammu and Kashmir Health Services Secretary Aamir Raza Tipu was held here on Tuesday to review administrative, medical, and service delivery matters of the Mirpur Divisional Teaching Hospital, official sources said.
The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Ijaz Ahmed Raja, briefed the meeting on key issues including patient care facilities, availability of medicines, shortage of medical staff, and upgradation of emergency services. He also presented proposals for early resolution of challenges and effective implementation of ongoing reform measures.
The meeting reviewed the overall performance of the hospital and discussed steps required to improve healthcare delivery standards. Progress on activating the Kashmir Institute of Cardiology as a fully functional hospital was also reviewed and appreciated as a major step toward strengthening regional healthcare infrastructure.
Participants welcomed the organization of a surgical week, the involvement of international faculty, and the enhancement of surgical capacity at the hospital. The forum emphasized that such academic and clinical initiatives are essential for improving the skills of local doctors in line with modern medical standards.
The meeting also discussed the introduction of robotic surgery at the Divisional Headquarters Teaching Hospital Mirpur, terming it a significant milestone in the modernization of healthcare services in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, Health Secretary Aamir Raza Tipu appreciated ongoing efforts for hospital improvement and directed that the provision of quality medical services to patients must be ensured at all costs, warning that negligence in service delivery would not be tolerated.
He also expressed his intention to soon visit the hospital in detail to personally review reform progress and issue on-the-spot directives for further improvements.
