DUBAI, April 17 — Abbas Araqchi said on Friday that the Strait of Hormuz is fully open for commercial vessel traffic for the duration of the ongoing ceasefire.
The announcement confirms that shipping operations will continue without interruption, offering reassurance to global energy markets and international trade. The move aligns with broader de-escalation efforts linked to the ceasefire, including developments related to Lebanon.
Araqchi added that all vessels transiting the strait must follow designated routes previously issued by the Ports and Maritime Organisation of Iran.
A key global oil transit chokepoint, the Strait of Hormuz plays a vital role in maintaining energy supply stability. Its reopening under monitored conditions is expected to ease immediate concerns over disruptions as diplomatic efforts continue.
