Islamabad, June 23 – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday called for a united front among Muslim nations and extended “hands of friendship” to build a new regional security structure based on cooperation, dialogue, and mutual respect.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his one-day visit to Pakistan, Pezeshkian said that peace, stability, sustainable security, and development in West Asia and the Persian Gulf could only be achieved through honest dialogue and regional cooperation.
The Iranian president said his meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir were constructive and focused on bilateral relations, regional developments, and opportunities for future cooperation.
He emphasized that Iran and Pakistan were determined to use the positive atmosphere between them to open a new chapter in bilateral ties and expand cooperation in areas including trade and economic development. Pezeshkian said both countries possessed significant potential and shared the political will to elevate relations to a level befitting their position in the Islamic world.
Praising Pakistan’s role in supporting dialogue and regional de-escalation efforts, he described Islamabad’s approach as responsible and forward-looking. He also acknowledged the contributions of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt in promoting peace and stability.
Calling Pakistan a brotherly nation with deep historical, cultural, and religious ties to Iran, Pezeshkian said Muslim countries should stand united in addressing common challenges and strengthening regional solidarity and cooperation.
