Iran’s Acting Defence Minister Seyed Majid Ebn Al-Reza said on Sunday that Tehran treats every perceived security threat seriously and will continue strengthening its defence capabilities, dismissing suggestions that recent warnings should be viewed as psychological pressure.
His remarks came after U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States had postponed planned military action, claiming a possible agreement could lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and address concerns over Iran’s nuclear programme.
Iranian authorities, however, denied reports of any agreement regarding the strategic waterway. State-affiliated media, citing sources close to the negotiating team, rejected claims that Tehran had accepted a compromise on maritime transit through the Gulf.
Iranian officials maintained that the country’s policy on the Strait of Hormuz remains unchanged, stressing that shipping arrangements will continue to be governed by existing security measures.
The latest statements come amid heightened regional tensions following recent military exchanges involving Iran, the United States and Israel, with both sides continuing to exchange warnings over security and navigation in the Gulf.
