Tehran, July 28, Iran has ruled out any immediate plans to resume nuclear negotiations with the United States, citing recent military escalations and a lack of trust.
Speaking at a weekly press briefing, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Iran currently has no intention of returning to the table. “We will act only when it aligns with Iran’s national interests,” he stated.
Baghaei criticized the United States for its support of Israeli military strikes on Iran earlier this summer, calling it “unprecedented” behavior during ongoing diplomatic engagements. He said it was unacceptable for one party in talks to simultaneously back attacks on the other’s territory and nuclear sites, which remain under continuous monitoring by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
He stressed that any future talks would require a serious shift in Washington’s attitude. “Negotiations must not become a tool for pressure, bullying, or threats,” Baghaei emphasized.
Tensions surged last month when Israel launched a series of airstrikes on Iranian nuclear and military facilities on June 13. This was followed by U.S. strikes on June 22, before a ceasefire between Iran and Israel was reached on June 24.
Iran maintains that genuine dialogue will only be possible if the United States adopts a more respectful and principled approach.
