Iranian state television reported that navigation through the Strait of Hormuz continues to require coordination with Tehran, citing statements attributed to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). According to the broadcaster, the IRGC maintains operational procedures requiring vessels transiting the strategic waterway to coordinate with its naval forces. Iranian officials linked the measure to maritime security arrangements and ongoing technical and military considerations affecting traffic in the region.
The report said Iran’s state news agency IRNA has published terms indicating that Tehran would facilitate safe passage for commercial shipping for a limited period under specific conditions. The document outlines cooperation on maritime services in the Strait of Hormuz and consultations with regional states on administrative arrangements and relevant international legal frameworks.
It further states that commercial shipping would resume immediately, subject to the removal of technical and military obstacles and the completion of clearance operations in affected waters. The United States is reported to have agreed to lift its naval blockade on Iranian ports under the understanding reached between both sides.
The Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy and trade route, has faced periodic disruptions amid regional tensions. Previous escalations have impacted shipping flows and raised concerns over maritime security. Iranian authorities stress that coordination mechanisms remain necessary to ensure safe and orderly transit operations in the waterway.
