LONDON, June 14 — Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has reportedly warned vessels operating near the Strait of Hormuz against transiting the strategic waterway, according to an audio message circulated on a public maritime radio channel.
The recording, reportedly obtained from a commercial vessel in the area, instructed ships in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman to avoid movement through the strait until further notice. The message claimed that the waterway had been closed and warned that unauthorized transit would face a decisive response.
The development comes amid heightened regional tensions and growing concerns over maritime security in one of the world’s most important energy transit routes.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump said a peace agreement with Iran was expected to be signed on Sunday and that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen immediately afterward.
The U.S. military also reported intercepting several Iranian drones allegedly targeting commercial vessels in the area.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical passage for global oil and natural gas shipments. International maritime organizations have reported dozens of shipping-related incidents in the wider region in recent months, underscoring continuing risks to commercial navigation and regional stability.
