MIRPUR ( AJK): March 18 ( APP): The famous food chain KFC in Mirpur City was sealed late Monday allegedly on account of violation of Sales Tax Law, official sources said.
The AJK Inland Revenue Department authorotative sources told this Correspondent here on Tuesday that despite integration on AJK POS Invoicing System, the business store was caught red handed in issuing offline invoices with prescribed AJK POS Logo, verifiable QR Code and without AJK IR Invoice number, with the ulterior motive to forego the legitimate sales tax.
Since February, 2025, it may be mentioned here that the Inland Revenue Department implemented the AJK POS Invoicing System for safeguarding Government revenue and in order to bring digital transparency on famous brands, chains, their business outlets and other such their businesses falling under the definition of Tier-1 Retailers, told by the spokesperson of the Inland Revenue Department.
The IRD sources revealed that till date, 25 famous clothing and footwear brands including food chains along with their 55 business outlets throughout AJ&K have successfully been integrated with AJK POS Invoicing System.
“The KFC business store is one the beginners where this system was installed”, the sources said adding that on Monday ( last) night on 17.03.2025, one of the team members of Special Task Force constituted by the Inland Revenue Department Department for round the clock monitoring of said system on all concerned brands, conducted surprise raid on the outlet and retrieved few offline invoicies (termed as fake invoices as per law) that had not contained prescribed features of AJK POS Invoicing System. “Resultant to this blunt violation on the part of KFC management, the field team of the Inland Revenue Department sealed the business premises and initiated legal proceedings against the violator as per law”, the IRD sources added.
