MIRPUR (AJK): April 6 – The Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) led by Yasin Malik on Monday expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the mother of veteran Hurriyat leaders Zafar Akbar Butt and Altaf Ahmed Butt in occupied Srinagar, as well as the death of senior JKLF leader Malik Jahangir from Goyi, Kotli AJK, the organisation stated.
In a statement from the party’s central information office, the JKLF spokesman extended condolences to the bereaved families. He described Malik Jahangir as a revered political and social worker with a long association with JKLF. His funeral was held at his ancestral graveyard in Goyi with full organisational protocol and attendance of local party leaders.
JKLF acting chairman Raja Haq Nawaz Khan, along with senior leaders Malik Aslam, Malik Abdul Rahim, Raja Ashfaq Murshid, and Raja Shahid, visited the bereaved family in Goyi and offered Fatiha. Raja Haq Nawaz Khan praised Malik Jahangir’s contributions to JKLF and the freedom movement.
Meanwhile, leaders M. Rafiq Dar and Saleem Haroon expressed grief over the passing of the mother of Zafar Akbar Butt and Altaf Ahmed Butt, describing her as a pious, brave, and resilient woman who endured hardships during the freedom struggle. She passed away at around 10:30 PM, and her Jinaza prayer was held at a local mosque in Shankarpora, Srinagar, followed by burial at the ancestral graveyard.
Prayers in absentia (Gaibana Nimaz-e-Jinaza) were also conducted in Islamabad near Altaf Ahmed Butt’s residence. JKLF leaders and members of the Pakistani and AJK political community, including APHC leadership, attended and offered condolences, praying for magfirah and the highest place in Jannah for the departed soul.
