MIRPUR (AJK), July 19: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation League (JKLL) candidate Muhammad Asif Jarral has announced a boycott of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections scheduled for July 27.
Addressing a press conference at the Kashmir Press Club, Jarral, who is contesting from constituency LA-3 Mirpur City, said the political vision of late K.H. Khurshid, former President of AJK and founder of JKLL, remains a guiding principle for the party.
He claimed that people in Azad Jammu and Kashmir are facing challenges, including political uncertainty and issues affecting their basic rights. Jarral said implementing K.H. Khurshid’s principles was necessary to ensure political stability, protect state autonomy, and safeguard public interests.
He urged the Election Commission to postpone the elections for a few months, arguing that polls under the current circumstances would not be fair. He also called on political stakeholders to consider dialogue and measures aimed at creating a more suitable environment for the electoral process.
