Doha, August 25: The Cultural Village Foundation Katara opened the “Artistic Manifestations” exhibition on Monday evening at Building 47, in the presence of Mr. Saif Saad Al Dosari, Deputy General Manager and Director of Human Resources at Katara, along with a number of artists and people interested in cultural and artistic affairs.
The exhibition is the outcome of a programme involving female Fine Arts students from Qatar University’s College of Arts and Sciences. It presents the artistic work of young talents who have drawn inspiration from elements of heritage and memory, reimagining them through contemporary visions and styles.
The exhibition features the works of 26 female artists and includes 41 paintings and 17 sculptures, showcasing a variety of themes, techniques and forms of artistic expression.
The displayed works reveal remarkable diversity in artistic experiences, as the artists drew upon various heritage themes and elements from both recent and distant memories. They presented them through innovative visual compositions that combine the authenticity of heritage with the freedom of contemporary expression.
Dr. Munira Al Meer, a ceramics instructor at Qatar University, said the idea of the exhibition is based on selecting elements from heritage objects and reusing them in unusual and innovative ways, helping to revive and present them in a contemporary form.
“I feel proud and happy about this exhibition, which presents the work of each participating student through her own artistic vision. Artistic Manifestations is, in essence, a manifestation of young talents, each with her own voice and distinctive artistic identity,” she said.
Dr. Al Meer thanked the organisers of the exhibition and everyone who contributed to supporting this artistic experience. She encouraged the students to continue exploring, experimenting and developing their skills, stressing that art is not limited to producing beautiful work but is also a means of thinking, expression and creating ideas while opening new horizons for both artists and audiences.
Katara’s hosting of the exhibition comes within the framework of its cultural mission to support the artistic movement and provide young talents with spaces to showcase their experiences and engage with the public.
Through its diverse exhibitions and programmes, Katara seeks to serve as a platform for creative talents and a space that contributes to discovering promising potential, supporting their development and highlighting their artistic work.
The “Artistic Manifestations” exhibition will remain open to visitors until September 3, daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., at Building 47, Katara.
