DOHA: The Katara Cultural Village Foundation has announced the opening of registration for the 10th edition of the Katara Quran Recitation Award under the theme “Adorn the Quran with your voices.” The deadline for receiving participation applications is September 30.
The award aims to encourage and discover outstanding talents in Quran recitation, recognize distinguished reciters, and promote the correct application of Tajweed rules while inspiring younger generations to preserve Islamic values.
A selection committee will review all submissions and choose the top 100 participants. These entries will then be evaluated to select 15 finalists who will be invited to Doha to compete before the final judging panel and the Voice Beauty Committee.
Participants must submit required documents, including identification, a personal photo, and two Quran recitation video recordings through the official application process. Each recording should not exceed six minutes and must follow the specified recitation requirements.
The judging panel consists of six members, including specialists in Quranic readings, Tajweed rules, musical modes and vocal quality.
The total prize value is QR 800,000, with QR 500,000 awarded to the first-place winner, QR 200,000 for second place, and QR 100,000 for third place.
The General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has been the official sponsor of the Katara Quran Recitation Award since its launch in 2017.
