Katara Showcases Tunisia’s Postal Heritage Through Rare Stamp Exhibition

His Excellency Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara, inaugurated the exhibition “Tunisian Postal Service: History and Stamps” at the Arab Postal Stamp Museum (Building 22) in Katara.

The opening ceremony was attended by His Excellency Farhat Khlifi, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to the State of Qatar, along with a number of ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions, media representatives, and philately and heritage enthusiasts.

The exhibition features more than 400 rare Tunisian postage stamps dating from 1906 to 2010, drawn from the collections of Monji Safra and Samira Chniti, under the supervision of Tunisian stamp collector Youssef Fattouhi.

Fattouhi explained that the exhibition highlights an important aspect of Tunisia’s history and culture through postage stamps that document various cultural and civilizational milestones. The collection reflects the evolution of Tunisia’s postal service over more than a century and a half.

For his part, the Tunisian Ambassador praised Katara’s leading cultural role in promoting cultural and civilizational exchange with embassies from around the world. He expressed his appreciation to Katara for organizing the exhibition and also highlighted the history of Tunisia’s postal service, noting the ongoing cooperation between Tunisian Post and Qatar Post in exchanging expertise and professional experiences.

The exhibition will continue welcoming visitors at the Arab Postal Stamp Museum, offering a visual journey through Tunisia’s history and culture. Through its rich collection of stamps, the exhibition presents a unique record of the nation’s memory and its transformation over time.
