MOSCOW, Oct. 12 (rki.news) – The Kremlin has reiterated Russia’s readiness to pursue a peaceful settlement in Ukraine, accusing European governments and Kiev of showing little interest in negotiations.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Russian media that Moscow “has consistently expressed its willingness for peace,” noting that U.S. President Donald Trump continues to advocate dialogue as the only path forward. “We conclude that he still maintains his political will,” Peskov said in an interview with Russia-1 TV.
However, Peskov emphasized that European countries and Ukrainian authorities remain unwilling to move toward talks, undermining potential progress.
Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov added that Europe’s “belligerent stance” remains a major obstacle to diplomacy, even as Washington seeks to revive dialogue.
Ushakov highlighted that understandings reached between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump during their Alaska meeting serve as a “guiding framework” for both nations in advancing a settlement and laying the groundwork for future peace efforts.
Moscow maintains that the conflict can only be resolved through direct negotiations and mutual security guarantees, urging Western capitals to support diplomatic engagement instead of prolonging the confrontation.
