MIRPUR (AJK), July 8: A major political development has taken place in Constituency-IV (Khari Sharif) of Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, as several influential political figures and local leaders announced joining the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) along with hundreds of supporters.
The announcement was made during a gathering organized in support of PML-N candidate Chaudhry Rukhsar Ahmed for the July 27 AJK Legislative Assembly general elections.
Among those joining the party were District Council Chairman Raja Naveed Akhtar Goga, former District Council member Mirza Muzaffar Hussain Numberdar, District Council member Chaudhry Banaras Azam, Union Council Sahang Chairman Chaudhry Irfaq Shaki, prominent Mangla political figure Chaudhry Siraj-ul-Haq, social and political personality Chaudhry Shakir, and Raja Mohsin of Ghaseet Pur Rajgan, along with other local leaders.
The gathering was attended by Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam, former Member of the National Assembly Chaudhry Abid Raza Kotla, PML-N Azad Kashmir General Secretary Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, PML-N Mirpur District President Chaudhry Javed Qadir, and other party leaders.
Addressing the event, PML-N leaders welcomed the new members and expressed confidence that their inclusion would strengthen the party’s organizational structure and electoral position in Khari Sharif.
Political observers described the development as significant, saying the joining of influential local figures and political families could impact the electoral dynamics of the constituency ahead of the upcoming polls.
The July 27 AJK Legislative Assembly elections are expected to witness a competitive contest in several constituencies, including Khari Sharif.
