MIRPUR (AJK), July 17: The Mirpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has expressed concern and condemned what it described as alleged derogatory remarks attributed to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding the sacrifices of Pakistan Armed Forces martyrs.
An emergency meeting of the MCCI was held under the chairmanship of President Umar Shehzad Jarral to discuss matters of national importance and recent public statements concerning the armed forces. The meeting was attended by members of the Chamber’s Executive Committee, traders’ representatives, business leaders, and other members.
According to a statement issued after the meeting, participants passed several resolutions and expressed regret over the remarks attributed to Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
The MCCI reaffirmed that the martyrs of Pakistan’s armed forces represent a source of pride for the nation and their sacrifices for the country’s defence, security, and sovereignty must be respected.
The meeting emphasized that public figures, including political and religious leaders, should exercise responsibility and caution while making statements on national issues. It added that freedom of expression and differences of opinion are constitutional rights, but discussions involving national security and state institutions should promote unity and harmony.
