MIRPUR (AJK), April 29: The Software Engineering Department of the state-run Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) organized a capacity-building workshop aimed at equipping students with practical skills in modern digital tools aligned with the needs of the digital era.
The initiative focused on bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry requirements, enabling students to gain hands-on experience in globally used software development platforms and enhancing their readiness for international career opportunities.
The session was led by Hassan Shahzada, a 4th-semester student of the Software Engineering Department and Associate Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors representative. A departmental spokesperson said the workshop aimed to familiarize students with industry-standard tools used by software engineers worldwide.
In the first segment of the session, Hassan Shahzada introduced the Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador Program 2026, explaining how students can join this global initiative to develop leadership skills, gain international exposure, and access professional growth opportunities. Participants were guided through the application process along with practical tips for becoming successful candidates.
The second module focused on GitHub and the Student Developer Pack. Students received hands-on training in tools widely used in the software industry, including creating and hosting portfolio websites using GitHub Pages. They also learned how to access premium development resources free of cost and build a professional online presence to showcase their projects.
The workshop, which began at 11:00 AM, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments. Many actively engaged in practical exercises, demonstrating strong interest in developing and presenting real-world projects.
Speaking on the occasion, Hassan Shahzada said, “As a student, I believe sharing knowledge is the most effective way to grow. My goal is to empower fellow students with the skills they need to excel in their careers.”
The event concluded with positive feedback from students and faculty, who appreciated the initiative for promoting practical digital skills and supporting student development in emerging technologies.
