A new book titled “Beyond Oil: Economic Miracle of the Gulf” is set for publication, documenting the rapid economic, social and diplomatic transformation of Gulf countries, according to author Mohammed Ramzan Ali Miya.
The author, who has spent over two decades in Qatar studying Gulf history, culture and development, said the book aims to present lesser-known aspects of the region beyond its oil-based identity.
At the pre-launch event, Miya highlighted how Gulf nations, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait, have emerged as influential players in economic growth and global diplomacy.
He also emphasized the leadership roles of regional figures such as the Emir of Qatar and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in shaping development strategies and international engagement.
The book draws on Miya’s research and experience, including his work on migrant workers’ rights and education initiatives in Nepal and Qatar.
Speakers at the event described the publication as a reference on the Gulf region that could serve academic researchers, policymakers and diplomatic audiences.
The book is expected to be released within two months and aims to provide a broader understanding of the Gulf’s evolving global role beyond oil dependence.
