OSLO, August 31: Norway is stepping up preparations for its participation as Guest Country of Honor at the 2026 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), highlighting opportunities for business and economic cooperation.
An overseas CIFTIS session was held in Kristiansund, western Norway, bringing together Chinese and Norwegian officials, business representatives and local institutions.
Norway plans to build a national pavilion at the fair, focusing on green energy, digital technology, healthy living products and premium nutrition, according to Xinhua.
Henning Kristoffersen, commercial counsellor at the Norwegian Embassy in China and director of Innovation Norway China, said the Chinese market offers broad opportunities for Norwegian companies and that CIFTIS can help expand business networks and develop long-term partnerships.
Local Norwegian representatives said companies from aquaculture, maritime technology, cultural industries and education are also expected to participate.
Kristiansund and the wider Nordmore region are known for seafood, maritime industries and clean energy, sectors that closely align with CIFTIS themes.
The 2026 CIFTIS will be held at Beijing’s Shougang Park from Sept. 9 to 13, featuring exhibitions, business negotiations, promotional activities and new achievement releases.
