Islamabad: The 10th Mango Festival officially commenced with a vibrant opening ceremony through the collaboration of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture, Multan, Mango Research Institute, Multan, and Centaurus Mall, Islamabad. The inauguration was graced by Federal Minister for Railways Haneef Abbasi and Sardar Yasir Ilyas, Owner of Centaurus Mall, as the Chief Guests. The festival received an overwhelming response on its opening day, attracting a large number of visitors, including farmers, researchers, students, agricultural professionals, families, and mango enthusiasts.
The festival features more than 70 mango varieties and over 30 exhibition stalls, with mango growers and exhibitors from across Punjab showcasing premium fruit, value-added products, and modern agricultural innovations. The event provides an excellent platform to promote Pakistan’s mango industry, strengthen collaboration among researchers and growers, and highlight the country’s rich agricultural heritage while creating new opportunities for the horticulture sector.
Representing Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture, Multan, Senior Tutor Dr. Akhtar Hameed and Lecturer Usman Khan participated in the festival and welcomed the distinguished guests. They appreciated the collaborative efforts of all partner organizations and emphasized that such initiatives play a vital role in promoting agricultural research, supporting mango growers, and enhancing the national and international recognition of Pakistan’s world-famous mango industry.
