MANILA, March 24 (rki.news / Xinhua):
The President of the Philippines, Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos, has declared a state of national energy emergency amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, citing potential risks to the country’s energy supply.
According to the executive order signed on Tuesday, the government warned that the worsening regional conflict could pose an imminent threat to fuel and energy availability in the country.
The order also announced the formation of a special committee to monitor the supply and distribution of essential goods, including fuel, food, and medicines, while ensuring uninterrupted public services, transportation, and healthcare operations.
The government said the move aims to ensure energy security and maintain economic and public service stability during the ongoing global crisis.
