MIRPUR (AJK), July 26: Polling material has started reaching designated destinations as Mirpur Division completes preparations for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) General Elections 2026, scheduled for July 27.
District and Sessions Judge-cum-District Returning Officer (DRO) Mirpur, Jahangir Ahmed Jarral, said the phased distribution of election material is underway across the district. He added that Presiding Officers of all four constituencies have been provided with required polling supplies, while ballot boxes and other essential equipment have already been delivered to polling stations.
The DRO said polling will be held from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm without any break under the Election Commission’s code of conduct.
He urged voters to bring their original Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), stating that voting will only be allowed after verification through the original CNIC. Expired original CNICs will also be accepted, but no other documents will be considered valid.
Jarral said results will be compiled and recorded on Form-26 after completion of polling.
He informed that Mirpur district has 611 polling stations and 1,011 polling booths, with a total electorate of 411,140 voters, including 208,898 male and 202,242 female voters. A total of 3,643 security personnel have been deployed, while 320 polling stations have been declared highly sensitive.
The DRO expressed confidence that polling arrangements would ensure peaceful, transparent and fair elections.
