I received with profound grief and sorrow the news of the passing of HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the former Amir of the State of Qatar.
The late Father Amir Sheikh Hamad was a great leader and an outstanding statesman whose wisdom, vision and sincere dedication to serving his people transformed the State of Qatar into a modern and prosperous nation with a respected position worldwide. His lasting contributions to the welfare of his country and people, as well as his efforts to promote regional peace, development and international cooperation, will continue to be remembered by generations to come.
On behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan, and on my own behalf, I extend my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to my dear brother HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, the esteemed Al-Thani family, the Government of Qatar and the brotherly people of Qatar on this great loss. We reaffirm our solidarity and stand with Qatar during these difficult moments.
We will always cherish the warmth, generosity and sincere affection that the late Father Amir extended towards Pakistan. His numerous visits to our country will remain treasured memories of friendship and brotherhood.
We pray to Almighty Allah to shower His infinite mercy upon the departed soul of the Father Amir, grant him the highest ranks in Jannat-ul-Firdous, and bless the esteemed ruling family and the people of Qatar with peace, comfort and patience to bear this irreparable loss.
