Russia on Friday claimed it had captured another settlement in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, as fighting intensified near the border. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, its forces took control of the village of Zybyne, located a few kilometers south of the Russia-Ukraine frontier. Earlier this week, Moscow also reported seizing the nearby settlement of Vovchanski Khutory.
Ukrainian authorities have not confirmed the latest claim, and independent verification remains difficult due to ongoing hostilities in the area.
Meanwhile, regional officials in Kharkiv said Russian drone attacks struck residential areas, injuring at least one person and triggering a fire. The attacks come amid a reported increase in Russian military activity along the northeastern front.
Despite these developments, Ukraine maintains that its forces are imposing heavy losses on Russian troops through defensive and asymmetrical strategies. Ukrainian officials said their forces recently targeted a Russian drone facility in the occupied Donetsk region.
The situation remains fluid, with both sides reporting battlefield developments that are yet to be independently verified.
