Russia’s oil producer Tatneft has introduced temporary limits on gasoline and diesel sales at filling stations across the country, Interfax reported, citing the company’s hotline.
Stations in several regions, including Chelyabinsk and Tatarstan, are limiting gasoline sales to 30 litres per passenger vehicle, while diesel is capped at 60 litres for cars and 300 litres for trucks. Local media reports said queues have formed at some stations as restrictions spread across Russia.
Tatarstan head Rustam Minnikhanov said maintenance work is underway to ensure stability and prevent artificial fuel demand spikes.
The restrictions follow Ukrainian claims that a drone strike hit the TANECO oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, on June 12.
Ukraine has said its forces have struck multiple Russian refineries this year, significantly reducing refining capacity. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed nearly 40 percent of Russia’s primary oil refining capacity was offline by May.
Moscow has not commented on the latest Ukrainian statements regarding alleged damage to energy infrastructure.
Earlier reports also indicated restrictions on fuel exports and logistical adjustments within Russia’s domestic energy sector amid supply pressure.
Authorities continue monitoring fuel distribution to maintain stability across affected regions. Further updates are expected as regional fuel policies are reviewed in the coming days.
