The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Iran have emphasized the importance of enhanced regional cooperation to prevent further escalation of tensions, following a recent phone conversation between the two sides amid a fragile security environment.

According to official statements, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud discussed ongoing regional developments and coordinated efforts aimed at maintaining security and stability across West Asia and the broader Gulf region.

Both ministers highlighted the need for sustained diplomatic engagement, confidence-building measures, and closer coordination among regional countries to ease tensions and avoid further conflict. They stressed that dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation remain essential tools for ensuring long-term peace and regional stability.

The call comes amid heightened tensions, including recent disagreements between Iran and the United Arab Emirates. The UAE has accused Iran of involvement in missile and drone attacks targeting Arab states, allegations that Tehran has firmly denied.

Regional tensions have remained elevated since late February, when military strikes involving Israel and the United States targeted Iran, triggering weeks of conflict before a ceasefire was reached in early April, offering only temporary relief.
