MIRPUR, June 24 — Shoukat Nawaz Mir, a core member of the proscribed Jammu & Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKAAC), has issued a detailed statement appreciating the Government of Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for what he described as their constructive and responsible role in promoting regional and global peace through diplomatic engagement.
He referred to recent international developments, including diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions between the United States and Iran, and praised Pakistan’s position in supporting dialogue-based solutions to global disputes. He said Pakistan has consistently advocated peaceful resolution through negotiation, mutual respect, and diplomacy.
Mir added that the JKAAC values any positive progress toward peace and reconciliation at the international level and acknowledged Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in promoting regional stability.
Turning to domestic issues, he urged similar engagement to resolve ongoing tensions in Azad Jammu and Kashmir between the JKAAC and the AJK government. He expressed hope that Pakistan could play a mediating role to break the current deadlock and support a mutually acceptable solution.
He stressed that peaceful dialogue, mutual respect, and prioritizing public interests are essential for resolving disputes, warning that confrontation would not serve the people. He called for meaningful negotiations to restore trust between all stakeholders.
Mir said the group remains open to constructive engagement with the Government of Pakistan and AJK authorities to address public concerns and ensure stability, justice, and development in the region.
He concluded by urging continued cooperation and dialogue for long-term peace and public welfare.
