Colombo, November 12 — Sri Lanka Customs has achieved its 2025 annual revenue target more than a month early, officials announced on Wednesday.
Director of Customs and Media Spokesperson Chandana Punchihewa said the department had collected 2.117 trillion rupees (approximately 7.056 billion U.S. dollars) by November 11, exceeding the annual target of 2.115 trillion rupees.
Punchihewa added that the department expects to surpass the target by at least 300 billion rupees (around 1 billion dollars) by the end of the year. The growth has been driven largely by revenue from motor vehicles, electronics, food imports, and machinery.
He noted that the Sri Lankan government collects revenue primarily through three independent departments: Sri Lanka Customs, the Inland Revenue Department, and the Excise Department.
“This early achievement reflects the dedication and efficiency of our customs personnel and strong trade performance this year,” Punchihewa said.
Sri Lanka Customs’ success underscores the country’s robust revenue collection framework and provides optimism for meeting broader economic goals.
