A few months ago Iftekhar Ahmed surprised everybody by showing his mastery in verses and now he has come up with a new taste of literature “The Shattered Dream”.It is a collection of short stories penned by him and not to forget that the stories have been originally written in English,it is not a piece of translation of his own stories.Being a story teller, Iftekhar Ahmed is at his best.Nowadays it is not difficult to count living men in society, living here means a man whose heart beats and who also listens to the beating of other hearts.In his stories, you can easily spot out the unexpected occurrences of the society which have been thrust upon us to without our liking.At present there exists a darkness in the dazzling light and the darkness of light creates horror. How can a sensitive man look over the hurdles and ugliness that have crept in our society and now flow in our veins.No,not at all,he will shout out not to save his own life but to save the dying humanity, fraternity,faith and so on.If some people pay heed to his shouts, he will make them know that whatever is happening is not happening for any good.In the long run there will remain mechanism and nothing else.Is this the purpose of creation of this world and creation of men?There is rose in the one hand and a dagger in the other.Telling lies and deceiving others are the mantras for being successful and now these are not regarded a sins but now they are defined as an art.There are so many bare truths in his stories.
There are beautiful stories but I was much impressed by the story named “Room no 13′
It is a story about our daily life.what a story it is !
The story mirrors the reality of today’s life.If someone who can take care of your family, is none but you yourself.Life has changed.There is none whom you can rely on.It is nothing but foolishness to have blind faith.The writer told what must be told in the story in the present scenario of our social life.So far my little and poor ability to judge a story is concerned, this is a very nice and impressive story from his pen.The painful end of the story asks the busy readers to think , How was the world in the past and how is the world now.
The story raises a number of questions before the developed society.
The Sorrow of Love ” is another fascinating and true story.The writer has shown the real face of this materialistic world.Here, love has no place in the scheme of things.It is hard very hard to be thrown out when one is completely lost.while reading the story ,I felt that I am watching all the happenings in the story,standing by them, hearing their gossips and all that.And for me this is the perfection one looks for.Having read his stories, it can be said that Iftekhar Ahmed would do wonders in the days to come.He is on the way to achieve sublime glory and he is so committed in his craft that he will soon reach his desired goal.I simply express my heartfelt wishes for him and I am presenting my standing ovation at his grand entry in the realm of English Literature.
