Washington, June 23 (QNA) – US President Donald Trump on Tuesday insisted that Iran would allow international nuclear inspectors into the country despite Tehran’s denials, saying inspections would take place “at the appropriate time.”
Speaking to reporters, Trump rejected Iranian claims that no visits by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors had been scheduled. His remarks came after US Vice President JD Vance said Iran had agreed to permit inspectors to return as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts.
“They’re wrong. They know they’re wrong,” Trump said, asserting that Washington had received assurances regarding future inspections. He added that if such commitments did not exist, he would have canceled the talks.
Asked when inspectors would be allowed to enter Iran, Trump replied that the process would move forward at the appropriate time and that there was no rush.
Trump also expressed optimism about negotiations with Tehran, describing them as an important step toward international security. He reiterated that the United States would not allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon.
Vance said on Monday that Iran had agreed to readmit inspectors. However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry denied making any new commitments regarding its nuclear program or international inspections, underscoring continued differences between the two sides.
