US President Donald Trump stated on Monday that Iran is seeking a negotiated agreement with Washington and expressed optimism that ongoing diplomatic engagement could lead to a mutually beneficial outcome.
He made the remarks on his Truth Social platform, saying Tehran “really wants to make a deal” and that any potential agreement would be “good for the U.S.A. and those that are with us.”
Trump also criticized political opponents and some members of his own party, saying conflicting public statements were complicating diplomatic efforts and making negotiations more difficult.
He said repeated calls for faster action, slower engagement, or military alternatives create confusion and hinder progress, describing the criticism as “chirping” that has reached unprecedented levels.
The president urged patience, saying discussions should be allowed to continue without disruption. “Just sit back and relax, it will all work out well in the end—it always does,” he added.
Tensions in the Middle East have escalated since US and Israeli strikes on Iran earlier this year, prompting Iranian retaliation against Israel and US-aligned interests in the Gulf, including actions affecting the Strait of Hormuz.
A ceasefire was implemented on April 8 through Pakistani mediation, although subsequent talks in Islamabad failed to produce a lasting settlement. Since then, indirect exchanges of proposals have continued in an effort to revive direct negotiations and stabilize the situation.
