WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump said Wednesday negotiations with Iran are in “final stages,” adding his administration is prepared to wait a few days for what he called the “right answer,” Xinhua reported.
“We’re in the final stages of Iran. We’ll see what happens,” Trump told reporters, warning the outcome could lead to an agreement or unspecified pressure measures. “We’ll either have a deal or we’re going to do some things that are a little bit nasty. But hopefully that won’t happen,” he said.
Trump added he was “in no hurry” to finalize an agreement and ruled out a partial or “limited deal,” insisting only a comprehensive agreement would be acceptable. “We’re going to give this one shot,” he said.
The president said he had a “very good” phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Wednesday, noting Türkiye’s role as a potential mediator in U.S.-Iran discussions.
Regional tensions remain high amid warnings from Iranian officials. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps cautioned that renewed U.S. or Israeli action would expand conflict beyond West Asia, while Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi warned of a strong response if hostilities resume.
Earlier developments included claims of U.S.-Israeli strikes and retaliation, followed by a fragile ceasefire and limited talks in Islamabad in April that failed to produce an agreement.
Trump has intensified rhetoric toward Tehran, saying Iran is under pressure to reach a deal while warning of possible future military action if negotiations collapse.
