WASHINGTON, July 2 — US President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that Israel has accepted the key conditions for a proposed 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, raising hopes for a temporary halt to the months-long conflict.
Posting on Truth Social, Trump said his team had held a “long and productive meeting” with Israeli officials earlier in the day. “Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalize the 60-day ceasefire, during which time we will work with all parties to end the war,” he wrote.
He confirmed that Qatar and Egypt, acting as mediators, will now present the final proposal to Hamas. Urging acceptance, Trump warned, “I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this deal, because it will not get better, it will only get worse.”
Earlier, Trump told reporters he anticipates the ceasefire could be reached “sometime next week.” He also revealed plans to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, D.C., to discuss Gaza and regional tensions, including Iran.
“He’s coming here. We’re going to talk about a lot of things the great success we had in Iran, and also Gaza,” Trump said.
The development marks a key step in ongoing diplomatic efforts to pause hostilities in Gaza and seek a broader resolution through regional cooperation
