US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is participating in negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing war, and that both sides appear to be developing positive relations.
He stated that Khamenei is directly involved, adding that there is considerable respect for him within the negotiation process.
He also said he would be open to meeting him in the future, depending on how developments progress.
The comments were made during an interview on Pod Force One.
The US president said Iran has already agreed not to pursue nuclear weapons, describing this as a major development.
He added that the situation regarding Iran’s nuclear program was a key factor in the conflict involving Israel and the United States.
According to him, the conflict has paused while diplomatic efforts continue, with Pakistan playing a mediating role.
Trump said negotiations with Iran are rapidly evolving in a positive direction and that further developments are expected soon.
He emphasized that discussions remain fluid and subject to change, noting that progress depends on continued dialogue among all parties involved, while expressing cautious optimism that diplomatic engagement could lead to a lasting agreement in the coming weeks.
