SEOUL, August 18: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit South Korea from August 19 to 20 for talks with senior South Korean officials, marking his first official visit to the country in five years.
Wang is expected to meet South Korean President Lee Jae Myung at the Blue House to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues. He will also convey greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping.
During the visit, Wang will hold discussions with South Korean National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac, focusing on China-South Korea relations and issues concerning the Korean Peninsula and wider regional security.
Wang is also scheduled to meet and dine with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun after arriving in Seoul.
The visit comes as Beijing and Seoul seek to strengthen communication and review progress in bilateral relations. It is also expected to help prepare for further high-level diplomatic engagement ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit scheduled to take place in Shenzhen in November.
The talks are expected to focus on regional stability, economic cooperation and strengthening dialogue between the two countries.
