BISHKEK, August 30 (Xinhua): Chinese President Xi Jinping said Sunday that cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan has entered a “golden period” of rapid development as he arrived in Bishkek for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit 2026 and a state visit.
Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and his wife welcomed Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, at Manas International Airport.
In a written speech, Xi extended greetings to the Kyrgyz leadership and people, describing the relationship as a long-standing friendship strengthened by centuries of exchanges across the region.
Over 34 years of diplomatic relations, Xi said bilateral ties have remained stable despite changes in the international landscape and have reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era.
Trade and people-to-people exchanges have recently reached new highs, while major projects, including the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, have advanced cooperation and brought benefits to both nations.
Xi said he would hold extensive talks with Japarov on bilateral relations, cooperation and regional issues, while drawing a new blueprint for a shared future.
He also said he looked forward to attending the SCO Bishkek Summit and discussing the organization’s future development with participating leaders.
