Qatar Cabinet Praises HH the Amir’s G7 Participation and Reviews New Legislative Proposals

Doha, June 17 (QNA) – Qatar’s Cabinet on Wednesday expressed appreciation for the participation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in the G7 Summit held in France, describing the invitation as clear recognition of Qatar’s expanding international role in promoting peace, sustainable development, and regional stability.
The Cabinet meeting was chaired at the Amiri Diwan by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani. According to a statement issued by HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, ministers highlighted HH the Amir’s participation in the summit in Evian-les-Bains and his discussions with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the gathering.
The Cabinet said the meeting reflected the depth of strategic relations between the State of Qatar and the United States, and reaffirmed both sides’ shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in support of global peace and security. Ministers emphasized that high-level engagement continues to reinforce mutual trust and coordination on regional and international issues.
The Cabinet also welcomed the recent memorandum of understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, considering it an important step toward reducing tensions, promoting dialogue, and safeguarding freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. It further stressed the importance of continued diplomatic efforts to support regional and international stability.
Ministers commended the role of the United States, Iran, Pakistan, and other regional and international partners in facilitating dialogue, while reaffirming Qatar’s ongoing diplomatic efforts in supporting mediation initiatives aimed at achieving comprehensive and lasting peace.

On domestic affairs, the Cabinet reviewed a proposal from the Shura Council for a draft law on the digital protection of children. The draft aims to regulate the use of digital platforms by individuals under the age of 16 and strengthen safeguards against online risks, and was referred to relevant authorities for further study.
The Cabinet also noted the Shura Council’s approval of a new animal health law to modernize legislation, strengthen disease prevention and control, and align Qatar’s regulatory framework with international standards, supporting food security and national development goals.
It further reviewed amendments to real estate brokerage legislation transferring regulatory oversight to the Real Estate Regulatory Authority to enhance sector governance. Additionally, the Cabinet approved a cooperation agreement with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and reviewed reports on the Qatar Committee for Alliance of Civilizations and the GCC transport ministers’ meeting.
