Promises emergence of Mirpur international airport, hospitals and completion of Triple M Motorway project:
MIRPUR (AJK), July 24: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday announced a comprehensive development vision for Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), promising major infrastructure projects, healthcare facilities and civic improvements if his party forms the government in the region.
Addressing an election rally in Mirpur, Nawaz Sharif said he considered Kashmir his first home and regretted that several development projects launched during his previous government remained incomplete after his departure.
He pledged to complete the Triple M Motorway project, saying its completion would accelerate economic and social development across AJK. He also announced plans to establish an international airport in Mirpur and extend the Murree Expressway to Muzaffarabad.
The PML-N leader promised modern healthcare facilities, including cancer, cardiac and children’s hospitals, along with free medicines in government hospitals on the Punjab model. He also announced plans for new schools, colleges and universities throughout the region.
Nawaz Sharif said his party would ensure clean drinking water and essential civic facilities for every household. He added that he would personally accompany the future AJK prime minister to monitor development projects across the region.
He also highlighted an air-conditioned public bus service as a special initiative for Mirpur by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The rally was also addressed by PML-N candidates and federal ministers, who urged voters to support the party in the upcoming AJK elections. Nawaz Sharif said the proposed projects would create new opportunities, improve living standards and bring long-term economic progress to the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
